Why is there such an interest in MUD® SAR subsurface monitoring technology?
We think it all boils down to a basic truth: humans are visual beings. We connect better to concepts and information when there is a visual representation.
Ever try explaining what a tree looks like with only words?
“A perennial plant with an elongated stem or trunk, usually supporting branches and leaves. It has a root system, under the ground, that acts as an anchor and stores the nutrients and water the tree needs to grow.”
This definition might help if you’ve seen a tree before but if not…
How about showing the person a drawing of a tree?
It helps but what happens when you show someone an actual tree?
Similarly, MUD® SAR 3D models are an accurate method of visualizing the Earth’s subsurface (“tree”) without digging, drilling, probing or being underground. Like an X-ray of the Earth, MUD® SAR penetrates surface layers including trees, vegetation, snow, ice, overburden and even water, to reveal underground geological structures, water courses, soil saturation, geohazards, utilities, disturbed earth and voids to depths of 100 meters.
If you’re a railway operator, MUD® SAR can detect track geometry deterioration so you can predict track geometry faults in advance of potential derailment.

If you’re an EOR, MUD ®SAR can help you locate blind subsurface features and conditions so you can assess ongoing risk throughout the TSF lifecyle.

If you’re a landfill operator, MUD® SAR can measure methane emissions and hot spots within the landfill so you can comply with environmental regulations.

The subsurface is no longer a hidden sphere. MUD® SAR geospatial analytics visualize the actual subsurface to detect, measure and monitor site characteristics that pose risk to infrastructure, public safety and the environment.
